Community land rights awareness activity in Nana Location, Golbo Ward of Moyale Sub-County

Horn of Africa Organization for Indigenous People today conducted a community land rights awareness activity in Nana Location, Golbo Ward of Moyale Sub-County, supporting residents as they undertake collective steps toward the registration of their community land.

The activity emphasized that community land registration is critical for securing tenure, safeguarding communal grazing areas and water points, and preventing land-related conflicts. Formal legal recognition strengthens local governance structures, supports coordinated land-use planning, and enhances community capacity to invest in sustainable livelihoods.

The session prioritized inclusive participation, ensuring that elders, women, and youth actively contributed to dialogue and the documentation of customary land use. This participatory approach continues to foster shared responsibility and reinforce community ownership of the registration process.

The initiative is implemented with support from RECONCILE through funding from The Christensen Fund, promoting community-led land governance and peaceful resource management in northern Kenya.
Secure land. Strong participation. Sustainable futures.
