In celebration of National Mazingira Day, the Horn of Africa Organization for Indigenous People (HOA-OIP) partnered with community members to undertake an impactful environmental conservation exercise aimed at restoring green spaces and promoting sustainability.
Together, participants planted 150 fruit and shade tree seedlings at Hellu Primary School and St. Mary’s Mixed Primary School. The team later proceeded to the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) Campsite, where they conducted seedball broadcasting, dispersing 10 kilograms of seedballs—equivalent to approximately 5,000 potential new trees. 🌱
The event underscored the significance of community-driven environmental action in combating land degradation and mitigating the impacts of climate change.
We extend our sincere appreciation to all partners and participants whose dedication made this day a success. Special recognition goes to the Deputy County Commissioner (DCC), the Senior Assistant Director (KWS), and the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) fraternity for their invaluable partnership, leadership, and continued support in advancing environmental conservation efforts across the region
